snowbirding in AZ,

My 1st time at snowbirding, Staying near Florence in a RV park till mid-March. Been here for 3 weeks so far, today is the 1st day of rain with cooler temps in the 50's, will be back to the mid 70's by Sunday. Nice living in the Livin Lite Bearcat Trailer, plenty of room. City water and shore power, nothing like relaxing and still watching directv.

[p]Are you staying South of Florence ? The one I am thinking about is several miles South. I use to live in Gold Canyon about thirty miles to the North and we now live in Payson, Arizona. Miss riding my bicycle from Gold Canyon to Florence and back.[/p]

[p]Know that place, in the 80's met a German tourist who was a POW and was at a POW Camp which was located where part of he park your are staying and the INS facility next door. Quite the view to the east of the Two Buttes overlooking the Gila River. [/p]

Lots of History around here very nice place to stay and visit. After here (mid-March ) I will be staying at Organ Pipe Cactus Nat'l Monument for 4-7 days in the Twin Peaks Campground, in the early 80's I worked there at Organ Pipe as a seasonal winter employee (for 2 winters), use to joke about the snowbirders, now the joke is on me, lol.

Great pics! That kind of RV park is something new to me. I imagine the roofs help keep the trailer from getting too hot.

Sure beats the 9 degree temps here in Minnesota.  Is the air conditioner  able to keep you cool on the warmer days?

[p]The overhead awnings are nice, common in this RV Park, most can handle a 5th wheel trailer but not all rentable lots offer them.
They give extra protection from the hot AZ Sun and protection from the rainstorms which is common here as well during the winter/spring months. They are designed to flex during high winds and they make popping sounds on the hotter days during daylight hours. They cost the owners up to $18K to install but that also includes a full leveled cement pad under it. This Caliente RV Park Lots are owned by the residents not leased so making upgrades to your owned lot is a nice option.

The 9,200BTU A/C unit does perfect on this size of a Bearcat Towhauler Trailer (FK16) anything larger in BTU's would be overkill, doesn't take too long to get it cooled down inside, even here with the overhead awning I will need to still cool down the Bearcat on the hotter afternoon temps in the mid-80's, like this week.

The Black front on the Bearcat acts like a oven inside the trailer, next winter when I return to this same RV park I'll back in a little bit further as I am parked on a Southern facing lot so I don't get as much sun. Not worried about it for this trip, nites cool down enough that the a/c isn't needed and then the furnace is on in the morning to warm up the trailer.[/p][p]
