High Altitude Boondocking and Dometic Fridge

Anyone have any successes or problems with use of propane for the hot water heater or Dometic fridge at altitudes above 7,000 ft?  Planning to do some boondocking above that altitude and have seen reported problems on other forums regarding operation of the fridge above that altitude. . . and of course the fridge manual that came with TT states "use electricty only above 5500 ft.". Trying to determine if I need to switch to ice chests for this trip.

I live in Colorado at 8500 ft and most of my camping is above 7000 ft.  Haven't used the water heater but used the fridge on propane for 5 days and no problems.

[font size="3"]My untested theory is the fridge should be OK and the WH might be marginal. I have used the Suburban WH at 8600+ feet and it seemed to work OK. It might have a slightly sooty flame, but it heats. Opening the access grill helps to admit more air. The heat output will be less, but that just means recovery will take longer. There is a high altitude orifice kit available if you want to do the swap out. The fridge is just a single flame burner and probably is quite tolerant. Fortunately the furnace has its own combustion fan so it should also work.

we boondock right around 9500' up at taylor park every year and havent noticed any difference in the performance of the fridge or hot water heater

Same here, I camp at times at 10,300ft with no issues at all, Fridge, hot water heater and the furnace work just fine.
