Tinted windows

[p]Has someone examined the possibility to tint the plastic windows of their trailer. LL does not offer the option and from what I know vinyl/plastic film cannot be properly installed even by professionals (I had one declining to do it).[/p][p]

I recently did a lot of research regarding using auto type adhesive tint films on the plastic widows of my RBS21.  You are correct, it is a bad idea to use any film with adhesive on the plastic windows.  I ended up using SOLYX: SX-SC005 Dark Tint, Black - 5%. 36" wide x 30ft. Roll  "cling type" film.  It does not have adhesive and it is removable.  A roll costs about $79.  It is enough to do several campers!  I did the work myself with a basic application kit with knife, squeege and so on.  I am very happy with the result.  It is pretty easy to do.  Oh, also I emailed the company and they replied that the cling would be a proper application on plastic/acrylic surfaces.

Thank you for your answer; were you able to install it on the curved part of the window as well ? Did you have to remove the windows to install film ? I imagine that you install this on the inside. Does it come with how to do instructions ?

Yes, the film is installed on the inside.  If you examine the inside of the windows closely you will notice that they are flat .... only the outside of the window is curved.  The install instructions are basically the same as installing regular auto window tint.  There are severl sites that have written instructions and there are many, many utube videos.  Just Google to find instructions.  I cut the film to within about 1/4 inch of gasket seal around the window and also cut out space for the latches.  Even if you are not prefect, it really looks good when you are finished.  The good thing is that if you are not satisfied with your first attempt, you have plenty of film on the roll to do the entire camper several times!

Frank noted he used a SOLYX brand film. I specify their products on architectural projects. I just thought I'd note here that they offer many different films - in different colours, patterns, shading factor, reflectivity etc., so if you want to add film know that your options aren't limited.
