Any way to tell, other than hooking up a pressure gage?

Saw it at our local Kmart for $3.29.  I had one already, but that's a fine price if you need it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I like my P3's diagnostic capabilities now that I have it hooked up right.  I had trouble getting enough amps to it at first.  I strongly considered the IQ, but the amazon pricing has them so close that the P3 got my vote.  It was easy to adjust on the first outing.

I ended up installing it with the permanent bracket.  I trimmed that bracket so that using the top holes, it rides very tight to the dash, leaving plenty of leg room.

Camplite Travel Trailers / Tekonsha P3.........help!

Merlin or Charlie,

I am trying to decide if I want to install it with the permanent bracket.  Will this thing light up every time I drive the truck regardless of whether I'm towing or not?

Camplite Travel Trailers / Tekonsha P3.........help!
November 23, 2015, 06:43:42 PM
Wow, I found the problem with lots of help from Dan, one of Tekonsha's techs.  These things are very sensitive of the amps that are being fed into them.

The controller end of the plug and play cable was showing 12v at the black wire as expected.  Somewhere in the circuit was a weak spot.  I cut the black wire and ran a new piece directly back to the #2 lug on the engine compartment fuse box ('04 Silverado).  It lit right up and all the menus were accessible.

I still have to hook it up to the camper and adjust it, but feel much more confident now.

Thanks to all for the input.

Camplite Travel Trailers / Tekonsha P3.........help!
November 23, 2015, 02:15:06 PM
In trying to hook up a Tekonsha P3, I am encountering a blank screen.  Checking the pins at the controller end of the 'plug and play' cable, everything is fine.  This is the third unit that I am on.

Any Tekonsha P3 owners out there that can chime in?

I am short on time.

thanks,
Dave

Camplite Travel Trailers / Please, don't hate me

We sold our 13QBB after just about one year.  I think Livin Lite is a great product and we searched quite a while with a 21RBS in mind.  Used prices remain pretty high and while looking we came upon a new, leftover 2014 Remington 2100fbs.  It has some aluminum framing, but otherwise fairly traditional fiberglass construction.  We bought it.  At a claimed weight of 3850#s, it is not too far from what we wanted to tow.  It just fits our needs a little better.  On long stays, the QBB started to feel tight.

i've enjoyed the exchange of info and ideas here, so I'd like to keep a seat at the table.  I may not chime in as often, but will be around.

Cheers,
Dave

One of my screens looked the same as this.  Our problem was the spline that holds the screen inside the horizontal keeper.  It had been loosening and was creeping up, almost invisibly, into the side track.  It didn't become obvious until enough had slid out.

I had to disassemble the shade, hopefully, you won't.  Here's my solution:  http://livinlite.proboards.com/thread/662/screen-problem

Camplite General Q & A / generators

Regarding microwaves, I understand that they have only 1 true power level and that is high (full) power.  The lesser power levels are simply a timer controlling how long high power is applied.

Trip Planning / How Long Do You Like to Drive?

We like to limit legs of a journey to about 400 miles, optimally, but we've done much more.

We spent a week at St. Joe's in Feb of this year.  It is now, one of our favorite beach experiences.  The rest rooms/showers are brand new and among the nicest we've seen.

We day tripped to St. George and were not as enamored, though, I don't remember why.

i guess we loved the seclusion at St. Joe's.

I suppose that this is common knowledge to all of our experienced rustic campers, but we learned to fill our water heater while we are filling our fresh water tank.  The extra water comes in handy at the campsite.

Camplite Travel Trailers / Camping at a WalMart
August 09, 2015, 07:14:25 PM
Our first Camp Walmart experience will be our last for a while.  First, they are always near a high traffic road or highway.  Ours was at an intersection of two busy streets.  Tired as we were, it took a couple hours to fall asleep to the drone of loud vehicles drag racing away from the green light.  Well after midnight, two hillbillies in a pickup truck were selling a two-stroke dirt bike to two other hillbillies in a pickup truck.  Of course the hillbillies of the second part had to test ride it.  The whole transaction had to take place under the same street light that we were under, otherwise, it wouldn't have been official.  (Bike was, probably, hot.)

For us, Walmart is a last resort.

Camplite Travel Trailers / Final say on WDH

I've often wondered why TT manufacturers, for the most part, do not install shock absorbers on their product.  Wouldn't this reduce the need for sway control?  For that matter, it would extend the service life of everything in the TT.  I guess
that Quality is job #2.

We get around 14 out of most tanks, but I seldom exceed 60.  That's with a 5.3L Silverado and a 5 speed stick.
