[p]Are you staying South of Florence ? The one I am thinking about is several miles South. I use to live in Gold Canyon about thirty miles to the North and we now live in Payson, Arizona. Miss riding my bicycle from Gold Canyon to Florence and back.[/p]

Anything not covered elsewhere / Tampa RV Show 2016

[p]We have Weather Alert receivers that we use at home and while away from home and we also have a plan in place in case of emergency, regardless of the type. We also take frequent trips where we stay in motels/hotels and we bring our own smoke and CO Detector.[/p]

QuickSilver Pop Ups / New Camper
January 16, 2016, 11:48:12 AM
We recently sold our 2009 Quicksilver Camper 8.0 which we enjoyed using however we were limited to camping where access with the camper was not possible so we tent camped in those back country areas. Though we camped in a large 10x10 tent finding a suitable tent camping spot was difficult at times. We debated purchasing an off road capable camper a Quicksilver or even a Camplite but our experience with some dealers, upcoming changes to Livinlite and our own experience's we started looking at different campers. Our grandson mentioned that his best friend parents have a Jumping Jack Camper and a neighbor had recently purchased one later last year. We looked at one and purchased one ourselves and then sold our camper. Our new camper will allow us to camp the way we prefer, much like we were kids, under canvas. We will stop by and visit from time to time and we enjoyed fellow soft top campers sharing their camping experience's. Have an enjoyable and memorable 2016 camping season.

QuickSilver General Q & A / Late fall/Early winter
January 05, 2016, 01:55:45 PM
Met a small group the other day who are heading out from Payson, Arizona on mtn. bikes. They are bike camping for a couple of days out in the forest. Rain and some snow is forecast and they wanted to camp in the type of weather expected.

[p]We have a Bal Leveler that my brother gave us and we have used it a couple of times. For storage a padded pizza delivery bag works great.[/p]

QuickSilver Mods / Upgrades / One side of qs10 for privy?
November 27, 2015, 02:24:53 PM
The Treker privacy tent we use as a restroom and shower is set up in the following manner. For showers we use a Pahque shower pan to collect the water, we use a Camp Chef stove to heat the water in a Camp Chef Hot pot the water is transferred into a plastic bucket (The Camp Chef Hot pot has a faucet) and the bucket is placed on a small folding table outside the Treker privacy tent. A Zodi shower pump is used to take a shower with. When used as a restroom the toilet is placed in the privacy tent.

Gear / Dual Fuel...is it worth it???
November 21, 2015, 10:01:41 PM
Never used Dual fuel, still have a couple of stoves and lanterns that use white gas but use propane. For backpacking and bicycle camping I use propane/butane fueled stoves. I insulate the fuel canister when stored and if low temps are expected. I fill a thermos with boiling hot water before I retire for the night. In the morning the stove and the fuel canister is placed in a dish/bowl and place the water from the thermos in the dish/bowl and have been able to use the stove without any problems.

For dispersed camp grounds we use a Treker privacy tent which we also use as the shower.

QuickSilver General Q & A / Late fall/Early winter
November 21, 2015, 09:52:01 PM
Colder temps we switch to tent camping and use an electric heater and camp at campgrounds that offer electric such state and county parks in Arizona. We may also use the Dyna-Glo propane fueled heater (we also use a CO detector when using the propane fueled heater) but do not use when sleeping.

QuickSilver Mods / Upgrades / Faucet upgrade needed?
October 14, 2015, 10:57:44 AM
We do not use the faucet or sink in our camper though most of our friends that have campers of all makes usually replace the stock faucet and another item that they obtain and use and claim a must is a pressure regulator for the fresh water line.

Most of the parts used in the manufacture of the camper are not propriety parts can be found locally, which is an added bonus on owning and maintaining the camper. With regards to the curtains, unless you wanted the actual ones that come with the camper then you may have to contact a dealer or Livinlite. As an alternative visit your local department store or online and look for grommet type curtain panels (but you would also need to select a fastener to attach the curtain to the Bimini bar) or you could select tab type curtains.

In Arizona we camp year round depending on the weather. In the White Mtns. 8,000 feet in elevation, Mogollon Rim 7,000 feet in elevation, Base of the Mogollon Rim 6,000 feet in elevation and Desert Country range from 50 feet in elevation to 4,500 feet though it can be quite cold out on the desert.

QuickSilver Mods / Upgrades / Axle flip
October 08, 2015, 01:12:49 PM
[p]Our 09 8.0 camper does not have the off-road package and we have taken it off pavement for some of our camping trips. We have camped off of the FR 300 Road along the Mogollon Rim which is notorious for tearing up vehicles and campers but have not had any problems. For back country camping that includes 4x4 and narrow access we tent camp. If you are taking your Quicksilver camper off pavement, spot the location of your camper deployment site carefully. The ground my be to soft or after a heavy rain it may be difficult to move the camper around by hand.[/p]
