Title: 2nd Maiden Voyage to Lake Shelbyville - Success!
Post by: calimobber on April 13, 2015, 10:06:08 AM
Our 2nd maiden voyage was an unqualified success! Yea! This was a short shakedown trip less than 2 hours from home. I found that I was well prepared with nearly everything needed and what I didn't have we were able to do without. Perfect! I was a little nervous because we did our own winterizing and dewinterizing and as 1st time RVers I wasn't sure how that would go. Well....no leaks! :)

The weather was wonderful! After raining the 2 days before it turned into sunny with highs of 65 and lows around 40. Perfect camping weather!  The campground was practically empty - it doesn't open for reservations until next weekend and they had just turned on the water - there were maybe 8 sites of 100 filled and we had our loop all to ourselves for the first 24 hours. That means Mojo got to run free most of the weekend - happy dog :)

We checked out the nearby mountain bike trails and found them to be good fun. We will definitely be back.

So, tell us, how did your Hubby enjoy the camper?  How did the 'division' of labor go?

He loved it! He did the driving on the way down and also took time to start learning the various systems. When we pulled out to leave we spent a little time in the mostly empty campground with me practicing backing the camper into first a left hand and then a right hand site. I did really well for a newb although that right hand side was tough! Then I drove home and backed it into the driveway. Success!  We can't wait to get out again in a couple weeks. I'm shooting for at least one weekend a month up through winter and hopefully a week long trip at some point.

For him camping is just a natural extension of that.
