Title: fuel station
Post by: thudd3r on April 05, 2015, 09:08:53 PM
one of the reasons i almost traded off our vrv for a new attitude th was the lack of a fuel station.  i know it is petty, but i hate lugging around gas cans.  so i took the (much) cheaper route and fabbed up a fuel station for the vrv.

since the vrv doesnt have an option for a fuel station that i could retrofit, i created my own.  thought this might be of interest as an option to others who would like to add a fuel station

our vrv came with a single battery in the middle of the tongue, so i relocated it next to the second battery i had added right after i bought the toyhauler.  this gave me about 14" to add a tank on the tongue.  i quickly found there werent any fuel cells to fit in this space (unless i wanted to use a really small one), so i turned to a cylindrical tank.  i found that bam makes them in 10 and 12" diameters, at whatever length you would like and they even include the tank straps/brackets.  I had 27" between the doors on the front of the toyhauler, so i went with a 12x26" tank.  a couple brackets across the tongue from steel angle (same method i used for the batteries) and the tank was mounted.

Very impressive mod!  We didn't realize until after post-purchase that our '15 Axxess had a fuel tank.  Our youngest son went wild to discover it, though we did not see the need for it then, but do now.  Once we arrived home with our new 'toy', upon closer inspection, it was discovered to have a full tank complements of the dealer...a nice touch.

Your workmanship looks to be most excellent, along with your photography.  Kudos and thanks for sharing....you make us 'haulers' look good!  8-)

thanks...it was a fun mod to figure out. as for my photography skills...just don't look at that last pic of the switch.  kinda hard to take a picture when you are stuffed up in the front storage compartment  :D
i didnt realize the axxess came with a fuel station...that may have been an easier place to start.  how many gallons does it hold?
