Just pulled the QS 10.0 out for the first trip of the season and discovered that the tonneau cover had developed a rip unknowingly, allowing for rain water to get into it. I probably pulled out 5 - 10 gallons worth that was resting on the tent. Because of this, there is now a significant amount mold all over the tent. We've began to dry it to start the cleaning process and attempted to clean some of the canvas with very little success. In case we can't get the tent clean, I've sent an e-mail to Livin Lite to find out the cost of replacing it.
Has anyone had similar issues with their QS? If so, any success in cleaning mold off the canvas?
Anyone have any idea on the cost for a replacement canvas?
I purchased my 10.0 used and the original owner must have put it up with some slight moisture so now I have a bit of mold/mildew staining. I did what I could to clean it with mild cleaners but I didnt see much success. I think you have three main options.
1. Dry it out real well, and clean it with basic soap and water. This will get anything on the surface and shouldnt damage the material.
2. Dry it out real well, and clean it with a mildew/mold removal chemical. These products are all over and will do a good job, but I dont know what they will do to the canvas.
3. Replace it.
Obviously no one wants to sleep with mold all around, but keep in mind there is a difference between the stain left by the mold vs the actual mold itself.

Yeah, that about where I'm at now. Just found out from Livin Lite that a replacement is $935 plus shipping. Once we get some sunny stretches of weather we're going to try some more cleaning techniques but at least I know what the worst case is now.
BTW, As many others had mentioned, I've also had problems with the door zipper. During my attempts to dry it out from the mold, the tent shrunk to much and I ended up breaking the zipper when I tried to close it up. I asked the parts guy about this and he confirmed that the current tent now has more fabric around the door to prevent it from getting too tight. So this would be another plus to just replacing it.
I agree about the door since I have plenty of times where it is much tighter than I would like. The seams are just waiting to burst it seems like, but I figure when that time comes its going to be a lot cheaper to bring it to a local shop to mend it while also adding some extra breathing room. I think some people have said it ran around $100 to make the adjustment/repairs.
Mold stains are about 95% GONE! A bleach based solution called Mold Armor from Lowe's / Home Depot did the trick with practically no scrubbing! Just spray it on, wait 5 minutes, then rinse with plenty of water. I had tried several other solutions from Fantastic, Viniger based home made solution, to water downed Clorox bleach. Each did some good after a bit of soaking and alot of scrubbing but noting near what Mold Armor did! Now since it was a bleach product I will need to reapply the water repellent to the canvas on the ends with the beds, but this is a minor inconvenience compared to days of scrubbing or purchasing a new tent!
It looks like we're actually going to be taking it on our trip this weekend, even with the busted zipper. Bugs are out to bad yet and with the awning attached it'll keep out any rain, not that any is on the forecast for the weekend.

I am amazed at the results. I have a custom Camplite 21-BHS, which I ordered with a tip-out bunk. I might have similar problems with mold as I go down the road. Thanks for posting the product you used and the pics of the results.
Today, I got the zipper replaced at a local shop for about $65. She attached it about a 1/2" closer so this should help with the tightness. We'll see when I get it put back on tomorrow before the trip.

Back with canvas preservative info. It's called 'Canvak', sold in gallon can, can be brushed on or sprayed. It is water-resistant and though a major component is mineral spirits, it has other ingredients that really kept our tip-outs canvas in fantastic shape, (we actually had two tip-outs on the Coleman Hybrid). Hope this helps!

sorry sorry I just checked my email tent is 661.40 that they told me, I was asking for a screen room replacement at 664.63 I don't know where I got 615 from - but its not that far off :)
My thought was that $935 for the size of the tent wasn't bad. Replacement for similar sized traditional pop-up is usually $1000. Your quote for $615, was that for a QS 10.0?
