Title: Hello from Austin, Texas
Post by: christine on March 25, 2014, 09:14:29 PM
I'm an RV wannabe owner in Austin, Texas. I've tent camped most of my life and am getting to be a bit too old (translation: Baby Boomer) for all the packing, set up, and take down. I'd really like to own a small teardrop trailer some day--a classic bed-on-wheels-with-rear-galley, lightweight one that can be towed behind a mid-size passenger vehicle or compact SUV, has a true queen-sized bed area, and that will fit in my garage. I love a rear galley kitchen that opens to the outdoors. It can be serviced and secured easily. My biggest problem with most teardrops is that the cabin is short. People who are tall with long torsos have a tough time sitting up in them comfortably. And the counter height in the galley is low. I'd like to see a lightweight, no-rust, no-rot teardrop with classic styling, a tall box (5' not including ground clearance), and a rear outdoor galley with a near-standard counter height and a sink. I have researched what's on the web and have found only one custom build that comes somewhat close to what I want.
