Title: Goodbye jackknife sofa
Post by: ktnm8135 on September 27, 2014, 11:06:12 PM
Got rid of 72" sofa and built a 29" x 75" platform. Had the upholsterer cover it with 5" HD foam and marine grade black vinyl, piping on the edges and buttons in a diamond pattern. Looks good, sits and sleeps even better.

The user with the original post has not been on the forum for almost 5 months, so there may not be any response. Which model of Camplite do you have?

I removed mine as well due to the fabric already beginning to separate at the seams. Plus, my 9 year old son sleeps on it and always complained about joint in the middle of both the upper and lower cushions. My wife always complained how the bathroom door could not be used when it was lowered. So, I removed It!!! We went to a local fabric store and purchased a 8 inch foam mattress (had to be cut in store to the dimensions of the original base). Works 100% better than the fold down. Now my son sleeps well!! Wife can use the bathroom with door!!!!! Happy son + happy wife= I can camp in peace!!!!

WC,

Do you have any pics of your sofa ---> bed mod? We have the 13 RDB and looking for solutions to have a better sleep space up front  where our sofa bed is. (or else we have to break  down the dinette). We have come to the same conclusion with the gap in the sofa bed...it's big enough to eat small children and the the occasional dog toy :)).

thx
