Post by: gnies on September 16, 2014, 03:26:57 PM
My roll up shade is kind of not aligned properly and have a hard time to roll it up and down and I can't completly open it it stick at the bottom. I have a picture from the outside you can see in the right botton corner it's kind of not straight, anyway when I get it down I have a hard time to get it all the way down as it get stuck. Any ideas?

Those shades need to be handled carefully or they will do that. When you open or close them, and particularly when you stop it in between, make sure that both catches, right and left snap in, otherwise it will be supported only on one side and that causes the problem.

There isn't any absolute fix. Once the material buckles it is hell to straighten out. The best you can do is make sure that the edges are in the groove. Your pic looks like one side isn't sliding inside the groove. Push it in with your fingers or a knife blade and raise and lower a few times. It will probably still be buckled.

Paul,

As David has said, the shades are a bit tricky and can be very troublesome. However, when properly handled they work well. I find it's best to bring the screen completely down and latch it to the shade first. Then raise the combination by releasing the center catch and sliding it up. The screen acts to guide the shade up, keeping it in the groove. Same thing when lowering the shade: keep the screen attached until the shade is all the way down. Then hold and release both screen latches simultaneously and carefully raise the screen.

If you work carefully you can push the shade back into the groove. Carefully work it back in with a dull flat kitchen knife or similar device. Start with the shade completely up, work it into the groove, and lower it partly. Continue until you get the shade completely rolled and in the groove. Then lower and latch the screen and all should be fine. Let us know how you do.

Thanks, Charliem!
We also have a problem in the lower corner of our shade.I am going to try your idea with trying to push it back gently with a dull flat kitchen knife. That may just do the trick. I will let you know. I just wish all the windows were as easy as the window above the sink.  I find this shade to be the easiest of them all to raise and lower.

Be very careful when poking the shade back into the track. It is easily damaged. It may help to work from inside and outside, perhaps with a helper. The larger shades can work very easily if you latch the screen first and use it to guide the shade up and down. I recommend this method until you get the hang of the shade's idiosyncrasies.
[p]It's a function of width, I think. The easiest is the sink as you say. The hardest is the wide one on the slideout.[/p][p]

One of my screens looked the same as this.  Our problem was the spline that holds the screen inside the horizontal keeper.  It had been loosening and was creeping up, almost invisibly, into the side track.  It didn't become obvious until enough had slid out.

I had to disassemble the shade, hopefully, you won't.  Here's my solution:  http://livinlite.proboards.com/thread/662/screen-problem
