[/p][p]One item we'd really like to upgrade is the stock sink - wanting something deeper and a little wider. Looking under the sink into the cabinet there does appear to be a lot of space but I suspect concerns will be about the weight-bearing ability of their special countertops. Can anyone suggest a replacement sink you've used - or other suggestions? The dealer's 'wash dishes outside' doesn't work for me....[/p][p]
[/p][p]Thanks[/p][p]Ken[/p]
Here's the one that we used:

The sink is made by Elkay and it's pretty much the maximum size sink you could fit in there. It's a little bit wider and longer and MUCH deeper. Originally I thought I could fit a conventional 15"x15" bar sink in there, but the angle doesn't allow it. I wouldn't worry about the weight, it's still pretty light and there are aluminum supports on two sides. We opted for the 3-hole version to allow us to use a water faucet from our filter and a soap dispenser.
Here's my original post with more details: http://livinlite.proboards.com/thread/200/upgraded-sink-faucet
It also appears you used a standard faucet with a pullout hose - something we wanted to do. Any issues/concerns with water pressure/water flow with a standard household faucet - what about the fittings - standard?
Thanks Again

Thanks Again
It looks (and works) like a household faucet, but it's designed for RV usage. It works great either the pump or city water and the fittings are exactly the same as the stock faucet. It was pretty much plug and play. It's made by Dura Faucet:
http://www.durafaucet.com/pull-out-rv-kitchen-faucet-with-pedestal-ring/
It's pricey, but extremely high quality.
Actually, once we figured out the whole doing-dishes-outside thing we totally dig that approach. The counter space inside is so minimal that there's no place to stage the dirty dishs and the clean dishes separately.
Actually there's no place to stage them at all, much less...oh, you know what I mean.
Outside hose with hot water, a folding table, and 3 dish pans from the dollar store works a treat.
This is a great mod, my 16bhs had the ss sink that was factory installed, which was great and I never had a problem. Can you provide the make, model number, and source to purchase. Once I tell the wife this will be the next mod.
Thanks

tinkering techie...you are my hero. First upgrade my wife and I immediately saw a need for ( the mattress ) and the sink. I asked my dealer for suggestions, and there you were with the fix!
How did you find the products you used? What is your search process? Any ideas to add shelves in cabinets?
Also want to swap junk t-stat for a good one, Again, any suggestions.
Where do you live? Can we " hang out?"
I want to pick your brain!!
To avoid thread drift (this thread is on sinks), run a quick search on the forum and you'll come up with this thread on thermostats.

Glad I could help. I just measured carefully and started hunting around Amazon. I've been thinking about some cabinet modifications but haven't settled on anything yet. My next big project (dictated by the wife) is a shoe organization system. We live up in Washington state. If you're around here somewhere I'm sure we could meet at a campground and hang out. Pick away...
The Pacific Northwest is definitely on our "Bucket List"!! Perhaps one day..... I am enjoying this site and am learning a lot from you and the other participants. Thanks for the info. Happy Trails!
Today I pulled the factory sink to replace it with a bar sink bought at Home Depot. Made by Elkay. Came with a faucet for $99.00. Didn't work. I am trying to maximize the sink area to get the biggest unit in that I can. I'm having trouble finding one that will fit and won't break the bank. I believe that the sink mentioned in this thread only has a basin that is 12" x 12". I think I can get a sink to drop into a cutout that is 15" x 20". Looking at some made by Moen. Anyone know of one bigger than the Elkay PSR15171 that would work??
Thanks.

Thanks.
What didn't work about it? We used the PSR15173 and it doesn't have any space to spare in width. There are aluminum supports on both sides that limit the width. It could have been an inch or two longer, but I was unable to find any sink with those dimensions. Take a look at my photo again and keep in mind that it's as far forward as it can be (the bottom cabinet frame is directly below the front of the sink). Notice the space behind is only a couple inches.... and keep in mind that there's an aluminum support back there too.
The sink kit from both Franke and Elkay was too small. I was hoping to maximize the opening with the biggest sink I could squeeze in . I didn't want to go in with a 12" x 12" basin. I just ordered a Moen G204573. It uses a 14" x 16" cutout. It is 7" deep. I am aware of the supports. It could be a "tight" install. Hope it will work. I'll keep you informed. Might have to eat crow. It won't be the first time.
Measure really carefully before you cut. You can return the sink; you can't return the counter top.

I'll bet you 10 magic internet points that it won't fit. Unless the 21RBS basin is larger... but it definitely wouldn't fit a 21BHS and I think they're the same.
Tinkeringtechie,
After decades of cabinet building, you would think that I MIGHT know SOMETHING about what I was doing??!!! PAY UP, DUDE!!!
Now THAT'S a SINK!!!!
Man that's tight... is it sitting on the backsplash caulk? Well you earned it: $$$$$$$$$$ Use them wisely.
gleamb,
That's tight, but you did it. Good job!. Hard to tell from the pix but could you have moved any to the left? It looks like you might have been able to pick up maybe an inch to the left?

I don't believe that I could have moved it to the left. I could have moved it forward but chose not to. It made it easier to cut the hole. and yes, it meets up to the caulk at the backsplash.....so what does that effect??? It is a nice, big, made in USA 20 ga sink. We will totally enjoy it. Next, I will modify a cutting board to fit into the sink for "prep area".
Must be nice for you guys with your fancy countertops that can support a real sink ;)
The quicksilver has a plastic sink molded right into the countertop. Its so shallow that its literally only good for some minor hand or face washing and brushing teeth.

Nice job, you'll love the extra depth. No more splashing all over the counter.
The sink is perfectly in line with the front edge of the cabinet. I reused the original front and left side cutout. All I did was cut the back and the right side. I would NEVER install a sink that wasn't square to the cabinet. Come on now.[span] [/span]

Eventually that will happen :) I've actually been toying with the idea of replacing the entire top...we shall see what happens

It seems the length (L to R) will fit and the width (F to B) should be a lot easier. It takes up less counter space and I like the recessed lip on the Elkay. Can I assume both of you used the U-Channel mount versions of the sinks vs the quick clips?
You thoughts, Gentlemen?

The Moen sink I used has the same basin width as the Elkay mentioned. The front to back basin is 2" bigger than the Elkay. The length, Front to Back, of the Moen is 1" longer on the trim piece than the Elkay. I had no problems with front to back numbers. It was the width that was the "constraint" for me. I was able to make the cutout 16" wide. The sink cleared the aluminum support at the front right with no problem. I don't know what U Channel mount is.I bet it is easier than what came with my sink. My sink came with clips that, I believe, were meant for a 3/4" thick counter, not the 1 1/2" we have. It was the hardest part of my installation. I had to order my sink from our local plumbing supply shop. It retailed for over $228. I was able to get it for $135 plus tax. Bigger sink....less money. Any of the sinks mentioned would work fine. I had to modify the PEX lines by adding two valves. Also had to purchase a drain fixture and install a flexible PTrap. If anyone is considering doing this modification and needs more help, let me know and I'll try to assist.
Tinkeringtechie....you have real good eyes. Although I would never mount a sink that wasn't parallel to the front of the cabinet, the boys at LL apparently don't care. Since I used the existing front and left side cut as the starting point, I never questioned whether it was indeed square. It wasn't. Darn. Guess I'll have to rip it it out and start all over again. Oh well. The original cut follows the aluminum support at the front of the sink. Something is "out", but I don't really care. It looks GREAT and we will love having this big, deep, useful sink. Time and money well spent. Happy Trails!!
This looks good on the 21' CLs. On the 16TBS though there are a number of standard-depth electrical boxes that intrude into the inside of the cabinet - I ended up with about 2" of clearance at the right front corner to these boxes. I would be concerned that the larger sink would not fit due to this one constraint. For anyone contemplating - be sure to measure that area closely before you start cutting and let us know if you come up with an answer!
A little update. I just got done building a custom cutting board that fits into the sink. We're ready to check out Florida next month! The more I work on the Camp Lite, the more I like it.

That is oak. I screwed (4) 1 1/8" x 5" blocks NESW on the underside to keep it in place. The blocks act as "feet" when placed on the countertop. We will definitely use this a lot !!

Camplite 21RBS kitchen sink upgrade. I'll call this my Golielocks sink upgrade. Tinkeringtechie's choice was a little too small and Gleamb's choice was a little too big so I went down the middle and it's just right. The Elkay 17x20 inch stainless sink fits perfectly in the 21RBS. It should also fit the 21BHS and 28BHS, but maybe not the 16s.

After outlining the new cutout with painter's tape and measuring, re-measuring, re-measuring, re-measuring, and re-measuring again the cut was easily made with a fine tooth scroll blade in a jigsaw.

The drain stack was rebuilt with a new P-trap and sanitary Tee to accommodate the deeper sink. The sink flange was sealed onto the counter top with Butyl tape.
The hardest part was tightening the U-channel clamps while working in the limited access space. It took me a while to realize that three screws would remove the cabinet door. Lots easier! The thick counter top requires the extra long screw package.
The supply lines were connected using ½" x ½" plastic compression PEX fittings. Note the threads must be BSP or BSPP, not NPT.
My wife and chief dishwasher is thrilled with the larger sink and reduced splashing. Now we don't have to wash dishes after using just two mugs and two plates.

Thanks!
