Title: BF Goodrich Tire - Off Road Package: Replacement?
Post by: mj74 on October 29, 2016, 09:55:34 AM
I've read here on the forum that BFG no longer makes the all terrain KO tire in the size that comes on the Camplites with the off-road package.  My question is, does anyone have any idea where I could possibly find a used one, or better yet, one that is new, old stock that's been sitting in a warehouse somewhere?  I only need one, and since that's all insurance is going to pay for, I really would like to avoid coming out-of-pocket for a new matching set of 4 tires of a different brand.

I actually don't recall what size it is, and since the camper is sitting at Camping World an hour-and-a half away, I can't just run out and check.  If anyone can tell me the size, I'd be grateful.  It's a 2013 16DB, dual axle with the off-road package, as I mentioned.  I don't think the service department at CW has even started checking for a replacement tire yet,  But I already anticipate they are going to tell me they cannot get one, which is why I'm trying to be proactive and track one down myself. I've done some Google searching, but so far, no joy.

In addition to the shredded tire, I'm probably going to need another wheel (pretty sure that one is bent), another Dexter axle, and the L-brackets holding the axle to the frame will have to be re-welded, as the welds failed.  Hopefully CW will be able to replace all that, but the tire will likely be another story.

So, anyone have any ideas on the tire, what size and where I might possibly find one?

Thanks in advance,
Rob

[font size="3"]FWIW the BFG T/A KOs that came with my 2014 21RBS are LT195/75R14. I too am concerned and dismayed that BFG dropped this size. They have also dropped KOs completely and switched to KO2s. I just put a set of KO2s on my Tacoma TV, but I originally wanted KOs. My local tire dealer, PEP boys, said he could probably find some KOs in a warehouse, but they would be older stock. I opted for the newer KO2s even though I didn't need LR E, but you might find a single tire somewhere. One tire is a lot easier to find than a set of 4 and an older date lot is as good or better than what you now have. Check with your local tire dealers and make them search their supplier warehouses. I would think the warehouses would jump at the chance to sell a single old stock tire.

FYI, Goodyear still supports the 14" size with their Wrangler series and Maxxis looks like another option when total replacement becomes necessary. Good luck and please report back on you success.

That's a crazy odd size. I was able to find only 1 LT tire in that size on the Tire Rack or Discount Tire, the Yokohama Y356, and it's not an off-road type tire. I don't think Maxxis makes that size and I didn't see it in Goodyear either. You might try calling the Tire Rack to follow up on @charliem thoughts about finding a new old-stock KO. Eventually, you may want to consider a more common size for all 4.

[font size="3"]That is an oddball size, but the more available 205/75R14s will fit fine. Note the original non-off road tires were ST205/75s. Just a suggestion when total replacement becomes necessary.
