[font size="3"][font face="arial"]I wanted to wash the rv and get a coat of wax on for winter storage. Started with the roof using a bit of regular car wash, didn't do much. I used a stronger solution and still didn't do much . Any suggestions on what products work on the alum. roof panel ? The sides of the trailer also showed some black streaks and water marks , even after what I thought was a good washing. Any ideas ? I wanted to get a good coat of wax on for the winter but don't want to wax in the streaks and water marks . Thanks for any ideas. I was also looking for suggestions on the best winter cover for our area, ( northern New Jersey ) THANKS !

Our dealer recommended ProtectAll liquid wax and sealant on the sides. It does a nice job without too much work and will help prevent the black streaks from forming (or they will be easily removed if you use this stuff on the sides). We store our camper indoors when we aren't using it. Good luck!
The aluminum on the roof will look stained and streaked and blotchy even when clean. If you want shiny new aluminum, you'd have to use strong stuff that would damage the paint on the sides and the plastic of the vents and windows. So, just clean the roof with detergent and call it good!
I've found that NuFinish car wax (liquid) with lots of elbow grease will polish out the streaks on the sides without damaging the paint. That's after a good washing with detergent (Dawn) and complete rinsing. It will look like new!
We painted our roof white last summer and the side streaks have not come back, for the most part.
We don't cover ours, just wax and 303 and it sits out all year.

Maybe an urban legend I internalized, but I didn't think using dish detergents like dawn on automotive painted surfaces was a good idea because it acts to strip off the protective wax. I always use "car wash soap"

Funny, I always use Rain-X car wash on my cars, but for some reason used Dawn on the camper. No more; it's all Rain-X car wash for everything from now on. Thanks for the good info.
