Title: Mattress recommendations?
Post by: kaydenben on October 04, 2016, 12:31:45 PM
Here's the problem. Well, not precisely a problem, more like an issue... although not even that... ugh, I'm just going to pretend I'm not lexically challenged from now on.

I am quite happy with the mattress that came with the trailer (and yes, it came with one even though I didn't buy it from an official dealer). I'm not going to replace it any time soon. But I have a big family, so the trailer cannot accomodate everyone. I've considered purchasing a sleeping bag such as [a href="https://www.amazon.com/Thermarest-Altair-Down-Blue-Large/dp/B00AYCPTXC/?keywords=camping+mattress"]this[/a] but it's a little bit too extreme. Maybe I should get an air mattress? Or something like that?

Any suggestions?

I am trying to figure out what exactly you want to do here? Are you looking to sleep in a tent occasionally or do you prefer sleeping under the stars?

The first thing you should consider is what you can actually afford. That particular sleeping bag is quite expensive, you know, and there are cheaper ones. Amazon has its own search engine, [a href="https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sleeping+bag"]use it[/a].

The second thing is what you actually need. While a sleeping bag could be a good solution, maybe you don't need it at all. And neither do you need an air mattress.
This is a LivinLite forum, it's not completely unreasonable to expect that you are not limited to the same extent as your average biker, for instance. Weight makes no difference (within reason).

Blow up mattresses are relatively lightweight, they don't take up too much room but they also are too easy to pierce. The first two qualities can be rather important, to the point they outweigh other concerns, but only if you move on foot. As you can imagine, it's quite different if you have an RV. So I'd recommend something entirely different. Thankfully, blow up mattresses are not the only choices when it comes to sleeping under the stars (presuming that's what you want), they have [a href="http://bestmattress4you.com/what-is-the-best-camping-mattress/"]at least two alternatives[/a]. And probably even more. Although I doubt that a foldable mattress is such a good idea, even though they must have their own merits, a futon is something that you can use anywhere, not just for camping. And such versatility might come in handy.
