[p]Hello All,[/p][p]We are finally in the market for a truck camper after many years of waiting for the right time financially to take the plunge. Why a TC? Because we spend most of the summer and part of the winter here in Texas at various lakes on our pontoon boat. We've tried tenting but it did not go well..... so that left us with either making day trips or renting cabins. It didn't take long before we dreamed of having an RV and a truck camper fit the bill because we can easily pull our boat behind it and our family is small as we only have a 6 year old and will not be adding on. Two years ago when it was time to replace our truck we went ahead and bought more truck than we otherwise needed with the intent of eventually putting a truck camper on it in the coming years. We ended up with a F350 long bed SRW. Our priorities are to have a dry bath and a slide, which considerably narrows the field in regards to weight. We came across Livin Lite and are very interested in the 11 model truck camper, hopefully it's not too heavy - will certainly weigh in on that in my detail before purchasing. We are going to visit a dealer sometime over the next couple weekends and discuss options..... I know with the new management there have been some changes as to what customizations they can/can't do. Mostly I'd just like to see a complete list of options and possible customizations like nixing the wood cabinet doors in exchange for aluminum doors. There is a PDF on the LL website but lots of the options I read people mention on this forum are not listed on the PDF. If anyone has that information and is willing to share I'd appreciate it.[/p][p]
[/p][p]My favorite thing about livin lite is that, although the company has moved away from the 100% aluminum construction, they still seem to be way ahead of the competition in regards to wood components... it seems as good as it gets currently.[/p]
Have you looked at the payload capacity of your F350? The highest I saw was 4,400 lbs and some were in the mid 3,000s. With a dry weight of about 3,200 lbs for the TC11 that leaves you 1,200 lbs for options, gear, people, fuel, trailer fluids and tongue weight for your trailer. And much less if you have one of the lesser F350s.
Could be tight.

That's been "weighing" on my mind and there will be a trip to the scale before any dotted lines are signed. I've been reading and reading about this on forums across the internet and it really is a hot button issue. Currently my feeling is that I'm okay with being modestly overweight so long as we "do not exceed the tire/rim load rating and the axle mfg load rating, which ever is lower." However, this feeling can always change as we are still in the early stages of making this decision and haven't done all the homework yet.
Baitbucket,
Where in Texas?

If you are near Austin, the people at Princess craft RV have always treated me well.
