Title: Upgraded towing rig for LL 8.5x24 Toy Hauler
Post by: keeena on May 31, 2016, 02:34:55 AM
In my intro post I noted I wanted something a bit beefier than my '03 Sierra 1500HD. Was debating a Tundra, but that would mean WDH was a necessity and i'd still be at the limits fully loaded w/ people, toys & gear. I ended up buying a 2011 Silverado 2500HD w/ the rare 4.10 axle. Same 6.0 gasser, but has more HP & TQ vs. the older version. Also features a 6-spd vs. 4-spd. For my use I couldn't justify the extra cost for a diesel.

Made a similar decision except an Ford F250 with 6.2 gasser.  I agree towing is what today's heavy duty pickup trucks were designed for.  My old 16DB was barely noticable.   Same arguement, although I would love a diesel I couldn't justify the extra cost with my limited miles/year.   Lucky or unlucky I work at the same place as my wife so I have a built in carpool buddy and unless it's snowing we take her tiny mazda 3.
