Title: WW2 era gear find
Post by: admin on April 19, 2016, 01:24:44 PM
So I recently stumbled across a cool find at a local flea market. Turns out I bought a little piece of history without even knowing. My full write up with pictures can be seen on the blog http://www.livinthelitelife.com/2016/04/cool-gear-find/

I love anything old and unique so to find out that I ended up getting a true piece of WW2 history by shear luck is cool.

Interesting, my brother helped his neighbor move and was given an officers kitchen set and a set of gas lanterns, both were in the wooden transportation box. The stuff is still out there, sometimes even a blind chicken gets a piece of corn.  8^)

Nice find.  I have a old folding field table that is a great item too.

Y'know, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that that basic design hadn't changed since the Civil War.

It is a real testament to the idea of keeping things simple and function oriented. This box is really quite simple with some steel flat stock hardware. I wouldn't be surprised either @check893 if this same concept has been around for far longer.
Why bother reinventing the wheel :)
