Wondering if my 2011 Subaru Forester will be able tow the Quicksilver 6.0 in the Rocky Mountains.
Considering buying a 6.0 and I live in Colorado.
I would think you would have no problems.

You will be fine with the stock wheels. I have drove my over weight loaded down 10.0 across the country several times with the stock wheels no problems.
Your 6.0 is going to be a dream to tow, no worries.
If you want extra ground clearance go for it. I also think they do have a cooler look. But there are two down sides. Age kills trailer tires just as much as miles. When you do replace the stock tires they are much cheaper to replace. Also, you need to double check me on this one for your 6.0. The off road tires require bigger wheel wells. You will have less space to store all your camping stuff.
If you plan some off-road stuff go for it, or if you just want the jeep type look.
He should not have a wheel well issue on a 6.0. The camper box does not have wheel wells cut into it like your 10.0. This was another compromise with a 6.0,resulting in a narrower box, but it does allow a low tow weight. It will produce a wider track if you go with larger, wider tires.
Thanks for info Delta, I haven been around only one 6.0. I really liked how it opened up to the side. If you were doing just an over night stop you would not have to unhook from car.

If that were the case, they would call it the "On Road Package".
The off road package has higher ground clearance. Part of that comes from larger wheels, part may come from an actual spacer in the frame/suspension.
That said - all other things being equal - larger wheels roll smoother, for sure.
I have a 2005 Subaru Outback and just picked up my new 10.0 without any issue towing. I live at just over 7000ft with winding roads, switchbacks and some steep grade. I could easily have forgotten I was towing if I didn't see it in the mirror. I think with a Forester and a 6.0 you'll be just fine. Go for it!
I've towed my QS10 over Vail Pass a bunch of times now between Denver and Moab and my 2010 Jeep Wrangler does well. It's rated to tow just 1500 pounds. It's barely noticeable back there. Your vehicle should do just fine.
Either I had an issue with my Patriot or we all have different ideas of what towing should be like. We have an 8.0 and it was very noticeable behind that Patriot. Having to reduce to lower gears to go up into the mountains from Denver, etc. Maybe it has to do with the Patriot only rated at 1000 lbs, I don't really know.
On the flat ground I agree - never knew it was there. Start an incline and there was a real difference.
Not to say that you'll have an issue with the 6.0 on your vehicle - I don't have any idea. I would predict that you'll really like it. We love ours.
@woodman, if I'm not mistaken the Patriot only has the 4cyl in it. Where I'm assuming @offroadgirl has the Wrangler with at least a 6cyl. The 4cyl engine used by Jeep just doesn't have the power to do much towing. Especially if it is not geared for it.

That explains a lot and why I see the difference in similar vehicles not having an issue.
Yes, it was probably overkill to go from a Patriot to a RAM 1500. However, it's useful for other things. Like going to the craft show and everything fits inside with no trailer needed. Or when I pick up logs for my woodworking - wife is much happier with the mess in the bed instead of on the carpet in the back :)

I tow my 6.0 off-road with a jeep. Cannot tell it is behind me even through the mountains of Colorado and Utah. I do not think you will have a problem with your forester. They are great vehicles.

I tow a QS10 with a 4cyl Subaru Outback, including a couple of times through Deep Gap in the NC mountains. There is plenty of power in those engines to pull up long Hill's if the air temperatures are cool. In my view, the real trick is stopping. As long as you don't try to stop quickly, you will be fine.
I tow my 6.0 With a 2017 Honda fit new England tows great
I tow my 6.0 with a 2016 Prius, and the engine(s) never labor, even while climbing a steep mountain pass.
My Forester barely knows my 6.0 is there! Piece of cake. We included the electric brake option.
