I bought a QS6 and due to a tear in the canvas the dealer ordered me a new one. They say it came without snaps. When my dealer called Coleman they wouldn't help them with the tool needed to fix this. This seems like really bad business. Anyone else had a problem like this? I'm about to have the first 3 days off in a very long time and wanted to take my camper out but might be stuck at home :-(
Thanks,
Kellye
Sounds familiar, the rv industry warranty customer service has to rank near the bottom of all businesses.
I got tired of the waiting and drove to the factory and had them put on the buttons on my new canvas. It took me many tries to get in touch with an a person that could help me. My advise is for and your dealer to call repeatedly, annoying them to death nicely. Plus, these threads are sometimes watched. Keep updating this thread, this might encourage the higher ups to give you what you paid for.
You may have seen in another thread that Livin Lite is in transition to new management under K-Z so that may be part of the headache as well. @christianm might still be able to get you in contact with the right people though.

If I remember correctly from other discussions, the replacement canvas comes without snaps installed (the snaps in a separate bag). The dealer should be installing the snaps to ensure that they line up properly with your trailer.
I've heard this many time before (we've had our 8.1 since 2010). The reason given by the factory for years is that every camper is slightly different. The snaps on the coach body are installed by hand, using a template. That means there can and will be slight variations in snap placement from coach to coach. Replacement canvas (they always said) was therefore shipped with the snaps in a bag, uninstalled, so the user could match the snaps up precisely.
We have been incredibly lucky. Our 8.1 is on her original canvas even though heavily used. I dread the idea of having to replace it. I frankly think if the time comes I will take her to a tent-and-awning place and have them put in the snaps. I don't know what it will cost but I think it will be worth it to get it right.
What Chuck said is spot on. Each camper has slight variations. A couple of years ago I replaced the toneau cover on our QS 6.0 and it came from LL without the snaps attached. They were however supplied. I went to the local hardware store and bought the tools in a kit for less than $5.00 and installed the snaps on the cover. You should be able to pick up the snaps at your local HWS too. Total time was less than 90 minutes but mine was the cover not the tent. Good Luck!
thanks for all the good info. my dealer finally has the tool and snaps. i get my camper back tuesday!

[/quote]I had a 6.0 and I can tell you that the snaps on mine were not even straight or spaced consistently. That being said, you can buy the tool to put the snaps on yourself. It really isn't difficult to do with the proper tool.
