our tenacious toddler has learned how to slide the cover over on the screen door and was starting to play with the latch, so i added a easy safety bar to keep the sliding portion closed. i am sure she will figure this part out too, but it will help for awhile
simple piece of aluminum angle with a notch in one end to clear the screen door it is mounted to. a plastic washer on either side of the aluminum keeps the screw from backing out during repeated use. also added a rubber well nut for a knob

i already had a screw in the corner from mounting the safety screen. otherwise a hole would have to be drilled there. since the aluminum is only 1/16ths thick, you dont lose any area when it is open and can still pass items through
