Title: D'oh!
Post by: rob on August 18, 2015, 10:02:14 PM
I am never afraid to make fun of myself and my latest gaff was thankfully fixed, in large part, by Livin Lite.

I pulled into a CG that I hadn't been to in years (tent camping back then) that had been over run by 5th wheels for the weekend.  I got quite a few stares and snickers as I pulled by QS 8.1 with my puny Vibe.  I quickly found my spot, quite beautiful, with plenty of tress, that no 5th wheel would dare attempt to park.

I pulled over to the side and got out to recee the area.  I explained to my daughter (11) where I wanted to back in and asked her to guide me (more let me know if I am about to hit a tree).  A crowd gathered to watch me, I am guessing, for entertainment.  I backed in, around two trees, with little difficulty.  I was proud and my daughter did a great job!  The spectators quickly saw something that I didn't.

I unhitched, leveled the trailer and let down the stabilizers.  My son (8) and daughter decided that it would be fun to race.  Just as I was getting into position, I realized my gaff.  D'oh!  My trailer was facing the wrong way.  Rather than having the door face the water, I was facing the road.  One of the spectators came over to help me re-hitch and challenged me to, "Back that in again."  Challenge accepted!

I raised the stabilizers and told everyone, "Watch this!"  My daughter and I spun the trailer 180, by hand, without breaking a sweat.  Now you could never do that with a traditional pop-up!

Stabilizers down, my kids and I set up in 7 minutes.

The spectators then brought over some beer and had to inspect my trailer.  No one could believe that something so big was so light and so easy to use.
