Title: Awnings.
Post by: shovelhead on July 14, 2015, 06:25:32 PM
I have a confession.  I have never opened my awning, at least not since the day the dealer went through it at pickup day.
Should I open it so as to first make sure it works and is there a reason to open every so often say to prevent mold / mildew?

[/quote]Mine gets very smelly.  I sometimes let it dry out and/or wipe it with bleach - with limited success.

i've had some success with tub and tile spray. i put it on in the evening when it is cool out, roll it up then rinse a few hours later...good as new...needs to dry overnight though...or else i'm back to smelly square one again...
Title: Awnings.

Just picking up an old thread here to post a question about our awning. It rains regularly all year here and the awning gets soaking wet in its rolled up storage position. We can't realistically open it up to dry it out after every rain event. The dampness leads to dark mildew spots all over the awning, both top and bottom. I've tried cleaning it with mild cleaners made for that fabric like 303 cleaner and then treating the entire surfaces with 303 protectant. Has anyone successfully either:

1) found a way to clean and treat the awning so that it does not get mildew spots when wet and/or

2) found a way to prevent the awning from getting water in it while it's rolled up?
