Title: Apple iPhone Astronomy App
Post by: charliem on July 02, 2015, 02:59:01 PM
[font size="3"]I'm so impressed with this App that I'm reposting here in a new thread so it doesn't get lost

For you amateur astronomers with an iPhone let me call attention to SkyGuide, available from the Apple store. It uses GPS and the phone's internal inertial sensors to display any portion of the sky you point it at. It can display in real time or any preset time/date/location. Truly point and search. A beautiful color display. For you high rollers it also works on the Apple iWatch   8-)  The universe on a 1"x3/4" display for $2!

The only thing it can't do is clear away these cloudy, humid, light polluted Florida skies.   :-[

CM, thank you for sharing.  We we're observing this week's convergence of Venus and Jupiter in the SE's twilight sky.  Does anyone know of a similar app for an android phone?

Check out Star Tracker. I believe its available for both BlackBerry and Android. I've also installed Distant Suns and Orrery from the Google play store on my BlackBerry to play around with... Star Tracker is what I like the most so far.

Posted using my powerful BlackBerry Z30 and probably from my 21BHS
