Title: lighting additions
Post by: thudd3r on June 27, 2015, 10:39:46 PM
we wanted a dim light so we could use the kitchen at night without waking our daughter up with the overheads lights, so i added a blue under cabinet light.  i ordered these...

i had originally intended on using 2 or 3, but once i got them and realized their size and how bright they are (there are 3 leds in each one), i decided to do just one in the center of the "cubby".  i had a couple switches i decided not to use on other projects, so they came in handy here.

cubby light switch off (i dont wire the lower led in these switches so there is no chance of battery drain when the switches are off)

I really like your thoughfulness towards other campers! It is so aggravating when other campers use those darned bright lights to light up their whole site and then leave them on all night. It feels like you are in a Walmart parking lot! That is one of my pet peeves with other campers.  For gosh sakes, you are supposed to be getting away from it all!!

i was talking about the bright lights around the campsite. But, also don't like loud generators.  A few weeks ago we went to Twin Lakes in Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. Someone had a generator running halfway across the campground. They ran it for two hours in the morning, two in the afternoon and two in the evening.  How inconsiderate!

finished another small lighting addition.   even with the clear shelves it was a bit hard to see in the cabinets at night (we store canned/dry goods in the narrow cabinets), so i added a white led light with a separate switch.

used the same method as before, cut a piece of 2"x 2"x 18.5" piece of aluminum angle.  mounted the switch and the lights in it and mounted it to the top most supports in the cabinet.  used a white version of the same led lights

off
