Title: usb charging
Post by: thudd3r on May 30, 2015, 10:32:56 PM
i recently added a small shelf for our cell phones/etc.  i wanted to be able to charge them while they sat on the shelf, so i added a 2 port charging station close to the shelf

finished it off with a piece of the same gray polycarbonate that i used for the reading light

I tied into the main DC for the interior lights, which runs right along the door.  There are studs running on either side of the wiring, so I had to drill a pass through to the other side of the stud.  Kind of a pain but not too bad.

Another note...the USB unit I  got was almost too long.  I would suggest to others to get the shortest one possible since the framing on the ll trailers is so shallow

Do I understand correctly? -- thudd3r - you temporarily removed the azdel wall panelling to install this? If so is the paneling adhered to the studs and what's the process of removing without damaging?

Hey PE...the adzel is held in place by the aluminum trim along the top, bottom, and the strips that run vertically. The azdel isn't actually secured to the studs at all, so it makes it easy to remove.  I removed enough of the trim that i could pull the azdel away from the studs and fish the wires to where I mounted the USB ports.

There are a lot of screws holding the trim in place, but you don't have to deal with glue or anything
