Our trailer just has the sofa and no dinette. We decided that we need a table to use part time as a desk and TV trays aren't cutting it. I don't want a booth because I'd miss the comfort of a sofa. My idea is to take out the sofa and replace it with two comfortable swiveling upholstered chairs, kind of like two captain's chairs, and a table that's bolted to the floor in between. In my head it works perfectly.
I realize the sofa sits on a raised platform that's part of the slide. But is there a way to do this without having it all custom-made? IOW, are there places that sell RV-type furniture?
Just asking on on the slim chance that someone has done or seen something like this.
Captains chairs for boats? Are there no systems under your platform?
if you would like to keep the couch and add a table, you could add te flush pole receivers to the floor of your camper and then use a table like the one that come in many campers (and most toyhaulers) these days. the parts are all available at places like discountrvparts.com. my vrv came with the folding table (which is kind of a pita) and one of these days i will put together something like this

I did the exercise. I took out the sofa.. A piece of cake. I should have looked for chairs 1st. I came up empty. I wanted wall hugger recliners. I couldnt find two at my price point. So I put the sofa back in.
Thanks for the responses. Keeping the sofa and adding a table would be too crowded and awkward. Our two little TV trays are even in the way sometimes. Since we plan to never travel with more than just the two of us, we don't need the extra bed, nor do we need a full sofa. Wall-hugging recliners would be great, but I don't see how they'd fit.
Shovelhead-- what did the floor under the sofa look like? Does it have a raised platform? If it's level with the rest of the floor, it'd be easy, but I doubt we're that lucky.
(And btw Woofit .... a boat? Okay, so, never mind the "captain's" chairs part. I meant chairs with arm rests. Sheesh. O_o ;) )

Pretty common to use marine stuff in RV's. Not talking bass boat stuff here, Brenda... (rofl)
Just the slide platform. 4 bolts and you can lift it out. I wanted recliners or a loveseat recliner. I can get the width but cant fit when reclined.
I got down on the floor to really see how the slide works with the sofa and all... and am afraid my bubble has burst. Doesn't look doable. :-[
