Title: Move the Factory installed TV Bracket
Post by: gnies on May 14, 2015, 09:24:28 AM
Hi everyone, the TV bracket that was installed by the factory is installed right behind my stove and it's quite annoying when I open the stove, really poor location and I would like to move it to another location where the bed is next to the windows there is large wall that I could place it. I want to install a 22 inches led TV. How the factory tv mount is installed, is it only two screws in one stud or is it more complex than that? If I move it do I have to install it only in one stud?

Thank you

You can see the bracket on this picture. Not really a good picture because I was taking a picture of the USB outlet but you can see the TV mount

Paul, you may want to get with Don at LL. I mounted my own mount in a 2013 16 DBS and he sent me drawings of the backer plate location in the wall installed during manufacture. Mine had 4 screws and I see only 2 in your so possibly yours is in a stud and not a plate but he can verify that for you.

I took my TV mount off and instead mounted some additional storage in the same location. I can tell you that the area where it was mounted was very sturdy... much more so that the rest of the walls. You may need to use a plate to spread the load over a couple studs.

Mine was mounted on a real beefy plate in the wall. I moved it onto the wall where the fridge and micro are mounted. There is a nice T in the 1"x1"'s there for the micro shelf. Through bolted into that.

The problem is all these models are somewhat different than each other. What was fortunate enough to be there in my 16DB isn't there in all models.

I just looked more at my bracket and there is 4 bolts

And this is where I would like to install it

I would guess there is not a backer plate in that area. You may have to bridge a couple of studs with a plate before you could mount the TV bracket safely.

If there is a tip down  bunk option for you model then there may be a horizontal stud. There is in mine

On the livin lite website I don't see that option for the 13QBB I see it for the 13BHB but I will look into it

This one is of mine. I found it useful with the fairly major mods I have done. At a couple points I drove the thinnest gauge pin into the wall to determine the centerline of some studs. These areas of probing cannot even be seen or felt when done. Just a couple ideas....[/p][p]
