Title: Off kilter in Friendsville!
Post by: fasteddieb on May 09, 2015, 10:04:55 AM
Karen and I are spending a couple nights at a friend's property in Friendsville, TN, on Lake Loudon:

Only issue: even with the Anderson Levelers we're still not quite level:

Barely noticeable inside.

Is this really a concern? We're on a long extension cord, so not running the air conditioner. Everything else, including the refrigerator seem to be working OK.

Is being about 6ยบ off anything to worry about?

There are only two things that are level sensitive: the fridge and the occupants. At one time there were some guidelines as to leveling for the fridge. They were: within 3 degrees left to right and within 6 degrees front to back. Because of the way your fridge is mounted that becomes 6 degrees side to side etc. I think newer fridges are more tolerant, but I have no numbers. Now the manufacturers say it's OK if you are comfortable. So if you're not rolling out of bed you're probably OK. Just watch the fridge. If it stops working you may be in trouble.

Just found another reason why being off-kilter matters:

Couldn't figure out why the water pump seemed to be sucking air and having a hard time "priming".

A weighted pickup near the center of the tank might have been a better design!

[font size="3"]Yeah. Didn't think of that. Maybe like those all angle spray bottles advertised on the Cash for Trash channel.

On a good note the tank should drain well.  :D

Actually opened it shortly before hitting the road this morning. No point in tankering water, and I'm planning to disinfect the system with bleach before our next trip anyway.

Safely back home and no longer off kilter!
