A friend of mine works for "Camping World" his job is to pickup a trailer purchase and deliver it anywhere in the USA. How great is that?
On the road hauling campers and getting paid for it....
Hey Shovelhead why not ride along with your friend. Double up on the driving, do the jobs in half the time and solicit more work from others?
Interesting. A local RV dealer just up the road from me (Forest River products) has a huge banner hanging on the fence along the road advertising they need delivery drivers! It did sound like fun.
Shoot it I.don't think his wife would like me tagging along.

I have a friend who did that for a while. It isn't quite as much fun as you might think.
The camper places don't "hire" you. They contract with you to haul it for X dollars.
Once you pick it up, it becomes your property from an insurance standpoint. You are responsible for any damage that may occur on the road, up to and including theft or vandalism. When he went to his insurance agent, he discovered that his vehicle was now considered commercial which tripled his auto insurance premium.
About once a month, someone would refuse delivery and he would have to return it to its origin on his dime. He wouldn't be paid for the return trip.
Additionally, he put 450,000 miles on his pickup truck in 2 years. Think of his maintenance costs. He was changing oil every Sunday morning.
He lasted just over two years.
I rode with him once. We picked up a fifth wheel camper outside of Evansville, Indiana and towed it to Winnipeg. He received $1500 to haul it about 1200 miles. Then he turns around and drove back to Evansville to pick up another one. Of course, the trip back is empty and unpaid.
