Title: Travelling Companions?
Post by: peislander on April 25, 2015, 07:20:09 AM
Our travelling companion is Dixie. She is a 12-year old Westie. She seems to really enjoy camping.  Who do you take along as a companion?

[p]Well, I take along my wife Joan, who is of unmentionable age and breed -;).

But seriously we have an 8 year old Sheltie who we unapologetically spoil rotten. She has her own camp chair so she can sit around the campfire with us. She is leashed to the chair so she won't run too far when she sees a squirrel. She hates squirrels (why I have never understood) and will bolt out of that chair dragging it along on her leash. At least the chair slows her down enough so we can catch her before she gets into the next campsite.

Our cat Lucy gets left at home. She is a house cat and Joan is deathly afraid that she will get loose at a campsite and lost. I think being careful and keeping her on a leash (not easy) will work. But I can't win that argument.[/p][p]

To be totally honest I wish my navigator were still here... My travel buddy is a French Bulldog.  She is terrible navigating.   Every cat we see, she wants me to catch up with it.

I was going to post a picture of my camping companion but my wife didn't want me to post a picture of her on a forum ;).

We don't camp with pets, well not our pets anyway. We camp with our two kids, my parents and our neighbor, his wife and their two boxers.

Makes for some great glamping in our 21BHS.

Squezy, 4.5 pound toy poodle. Loves to travel and camp. Everyone at campground picks him up and squezes him.

Callie and Sophia which have grown up camping. They have no idea of any other type of vacation.

Gunnar (3-yr old Norwegian Elkhound mix) hasn't taken a camping trip with the CL yet, but he does enjoy a good road trip occasionally!

We bring along McQueen when we take out the CL. She spent two weeks on the road with us last year and became an international welcome dog in Waterton / Glacier national park. Unfortunately she thinks the lake is her own backyard and likes to bark at other canoes on the water.
