i see the seelevel is popular here, and for good reason. just wanted to offer up another choice. i installed the iseries tank monitor system and have been really happy with it.

[font size="3"]Very interesting. Thanks for the post. It looks like a similar technology and does overcome the internal probe issues. It uses 2 full height strips to calculate level vs SeeLevel's segmented approach. I wonder about the effects of differing tank contents on calibration (fresh vs soapy/greasy). Probably a minor effect.
Installation is a bit more difficult because each tank requires a separate 3 wire cable. Again, probably minor.
I like the software capabilities, particularly the ability to compensate for irregular tank shapes. I have to plot a curve for this. [/font][font size="3"]The price is a bit higher, but certainly within reach.
[/font][font size="3"]The option of a tube for metal tank retrofits is really creative. Not much help to us, but maybe for the older class A crowd.

What sensor are people using on the lp tanks?

The 20-40 pound propane tanks found on small trailers do not have remote reading internal sensors. The only reliable means of determining the gas in these tanks is by weight. There are hand held scales similar to fisherman's scales available for this. [/font][font size="3"]Other methods such as add on pressure gauges, thermal strips, or internal floats are iffy at best. [/font][font size="3"]Monitor panels such as SeeLevel are designed for 90 ohm internally mounted float sensors. These are found in horizontal tanks usually fixed mounted in large 5th wheel trailers or motor homes.
The best option for small trailers is dual tanks with an automatic switch over regulator. Check daily during high usage periods and refill the empties and you'll stay warm and cozy.
